Aviva Ireland posts best performance in five years

Aviva Ireland has recorded its best financial performance in five years after posting profits of €85m last year.

The insurer’s 39% increase in operating profit was helped by the value of new business and pensions almost doubling to €22.m in the year.

Stripping out the impact of funding a pension deficit, the insurer’s profit totalled €91.2m in 2015.
