Irish Hotels Federation calls for €300m tourism spend

The Irish Hotels Federation has warned that a lack of investment in the country’s tourism industry is jeopardising growth and has called for €300m to be invested to address the issue. The hotels’ body made the call in its pre-election submission which suggests €60m should be spent a year for the next five years on tourism products and infrastructure.

This would equate to just 1% of annual tourism export receipts over the same period, according to the IHF.

“We’re at the early stage of recovery following the downturn and a lot more needs to be done before our industry reaches its full potential for growth and job creation.
