Storyful founder Mark Little joins Twitter as media boss

Mr Little will assume the position of vice president of media for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

His role, based out of Twitter’s European headquarters in Dublin, will see him work with broadcasters and media organisations to enhance their presence on Twitter and expand the platform’s reach worldwide.

“Twitter has been my passion for years,” he tweeted. “Now, it’s my job. So excited to join [Katie Jacobs Stanton] and the inspirational Twitter media team.”

The former RTÉ Washington correspondent will work alongside Twitter’s vice president of online and reseller sales for EMEA and Dublin office managing director, Stephen McIntyre.

This role is the first he has taken since leaving Storyful, which he founded in 2010.

The content discovery and validation platform developed a reputation for uncovering and verifying trustworthy online videos and images which it then provided to media companies.

In 2014, Mr Little sold the company to Rupert Murdoch’s NewsCorp for €18m before leaving 18 months later.

At the time, the former journalist said it was “not an easy decision but it’s a good one. And most importantly, it’s my decision alone”.

His move to Twitter comes at a difficult time for the microblogging company amid staff layoffs and slowing user growth.
