LinkedIn lands former Google boss John Herlihy

Former Google Ireland chief John Herlihy has been appointed by LinkedIn to spearhead its operations in the Europe, Middle-East and Africa (EMEA) region.

Mr Herlihy will be based out of the online professional network’s international headquarters in Dublin and will oversee the company’s strategic direction.

He joins after a decade with Google and succeeds Ariel Eckstein who, after four years in the role, is moving to a global leadership position within LinkedIn.

Mr Herlihy said: “I relish the opportunity to lead LinkedIn’s business in the region and I have always admired the company’s ethos.

“LinkedIn’s vision to create economic opportunity for every member of the workforce is a powerful one and resonates with those looking to start, foster and advance their careers.
