Data firm creates 150 jobs

Dublin-based data analytics firm Clavis Insight has landed a major investment deal with a leading technology-focused private equity investment firm that will see it create 150 jobs.

Data firm creates 150 jobs

The company specialises in ecommerce analytics, measuring online sales to give producers greater insight into their businesses.

It will add the majority of the roles at its Dublin headquarters, with the remainder at its base in Boston and across smaller offices across the world.

Approximately 100 new roles will be stationed here as part of the large growth Clavis is targeting over the coming years on the back of a new $20m (€17.61m) investment deal with Accel-KKR.

Clavis chief executive Garry Moroney said: “The investment partnership with Accel-KKR allows Clavis to effectively capitalise on the growth opportunities ahead of the business, significantly broaden its leadership position in the industry, and better support our consumer goods customer base.”

Its Irish operations are home to the company’s development and delivery centres as well as being its global headquarters. Many of the new positions will be on the software development side, with additional roles in sales, customer service, and marketing.

Its Boston operations houses mainly marketing and sales functions while it also established an office in Shanghai about 18 months ago.

Mr Moroney said Clavis’s technology brings the secret shopper concept from traditional retail stores to online retailers such as Amazon, allowing it to collect data which is then processed and available to clients via a cloud-based system.

Having Accel-KKR make such a large investment is a major boost for the Irish company given the private equity fund’s track record in the technology sector.

The investment firm has $4bn in capital commitments to its current funds.

“Accel-KKR is excited to partner with the team at Clavis to drive its expansion globally, which in turn will allow the company to further support its customers,” Mr Moroney said.

“We have built Clavis into the industry standard in ecommerce analytics for consumer-packaged brands by delivering a functionally rich and technologically robust platform that can be used globally.

“Today, Clavis monitors online retailers across more than 20 countries for our customers.”
