The distillery in the heart of the Boyne Valley which includes a craft brewery, whiskey distillery, taproom and visitor centre will open fully early next year.
The project is the brainchild of long-time drinks industry expert, Pat Cooney who helped build the Gleeson Group into one of the major players in the Irish manufacturing and wholesale drinks business before selling part of the business to C&C in 2012.
“I’ve been in the drinks industry for the past 40 years and it has been a nagging ambition to establish a distillery of my own… To add to the attraction of the location, we are also putting in a craft brewery.
“Marrying these two pillars of the industry and cream liqueur and cider allows us to tick all the boxes of the drinks industry.
"The business will have a strong export focus without neglecting the domestic market,” Mr Cooney said.
As part of the sale, a cream liqueur facility and cidery were retained by the Cooney family.
The whiskey, white spirits and craft beer capabilities have now been added.
The facility will also include a 120-seater restaurant, whiskey bar, private event space and gift shop.
“This is an ambitious and highly innovative company with great potential to scale and grow rapidly in international markets from its base in Drogheda.
“Enterprise Ireland looks forward to continuing to work with Boann as they implement their plans, creating and sustaining jobs in Ireland,” said Enterprise Ireland chief executive, Julie Sinnamon.
