Production firm sees revenues top €10m since 2012
New figures lodged with the Companies Office show that the Brown Bag Films-owned Nostrum Productions, which produced the second series of Doc McStuffins, recorded revenues of €3.1m in the year to June 10. It had recorded revenues of €7.3m from 2012 to June 10 last year.
Brown Bag is currently producing the fourth series of Doc McStuffins, which is shown around the world and which has been a major factor in the expansion of the firm over the past number of years.
The Nostrum accounts confirm that Doc McStuffins has been able to avail of State Section 481 tax incentives aimed at delivering additional jobs in the film industry here.
The Dublin-based creators of Henry Hugglemonster continued to expand this year after securing a major deal with Amazon Prime, resulting in 40 jobs being created.
This followed Amazon Prime green-lighting Brown Bag Films’ The Stinky and Dirty Show — production on this show commenced in March. The deal follows quickly on from the Dublin firm opening a 2D animation studio in Manchester last November that involved an investment by the firm of €1m.
The rapid expansion of Brown Bag Films coincided with its owners applying for the firm to go unlimited and thereby putting its finances beyond public scrutiny.
