A €50 million upgrade of the ABP food processing facilities in Cahir, Co. Tipperary, will create 152 new jobs and is expected to inject over €1bn into the economy over the next five years.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny, who launched the re-development yesterday, with Jobs Minister Richard Bruton, said the investment is another sign of the progress, momentum and confidence in the agri-food industry. ā€œI’m delighted Government was able to support this investment, in a collaboration of state and private sectors, which is essential to ensure future growth and success,ā€ he said.

The flagship facilities in Cahir are part of the ABP Food Group, one of Europe’s leading privately-owned agri-business companies, which employs over 8,000 people.
