Boost for Donegal as tech firm announces 330 jobs

Pramerica, the Letterkenny-based financial and technology company, has unveiled plans for its new premises in the town –with 330 new jobs set to be filled over the next three years.

Jobs Minister Richard Bruton travelled to the North West for yesterday’s announcement, which signifies a great boost for the IT sector in Donegal.

The company currently employs more than 1,200 people locally and has had a base in Donegal for nearly 16 years. Plans for the new premises, at the nearby IDA Business Park have been approved by Donegal County Council – which has granted planning permission for four three-storey office blocks on a 7.8 hectare site at Carnamuggagh. IDA Ireland is backing the multi-million euro expansion plan.

“This decision by Pramerica highlights the company’s commitment to Donegal and the north west region,” said Fine Gael Minister of State, Joe McHugh, who indicated Pramerica may expand its local workforce to 1,800.

The first of two construction phases are expected to begin by the end of this year and be completed by summer 2017.

“The company is offering significant scope for career progression, with up to 30% of Letterkenny staff currently working either remotely or having the option of variable start times,” Mr McHugh said.

New job opportunities will include senior IT managers, project managers, business analysts, data scientists, actuaries, accountants and technology support.
