Q&A with Micheal O’Gorman from Xanadu Consultancy
Xanadu is a software services company, started in 2011, that has grown to over 150 people working here, in total, in Cork. We have offices in London and a small office in Toronto as well. Primarily, we offer services and operations services to companies in the online gaming space and one of our customers is Matchbook.com, which is a betting exchange platform. Aside from that, we are developing products which we started on in the last 12 months, centred on smart content delivery and behaviour detection.
Future-proofing is building a system which makes it easier for that company to react to new technologies and issues. So not only do we have to build a software system that works, but also one that can react to the growing needs of an ever-changing market. We are dealing with a system that is similar to stock exchanges; where quick changes, fluctuations, and technology have a huge bearing on the company’s ability to do business. It also influences the user experience, so we need to build a system which works very well but one that also has scope to expand.
Oh, of course, yeah. There’s lots of new technology coming out every single day... It’s about keeping up with the constant change in technology and it’s a really, really exciting business to be involved with. I love to come to work every day because the whole technology side of things means that every day is a new challenge and something to be embraced.
We will be working on Matchbook.com over the next few years and will be there to support them. We’re also advancing our own product suite, which I mentioned earlier, on smart content delivery and behavioural detection... We will be growing the business here and possibly elsewhere in the world to help us facilitate that growth over the next period of time. We’re hiring continuously in all disciplines like engineering, project management, marketing, and operations. The constant evolution of what we are doing means we are always assessing where we are going and we’ll need the best people on board in order for us to remain at the top.
