Amazon Prime, one of the main rivals of Netflix has given the green light for the Brown Bag Films project The Stinky & Dirty Show, with production to begin this month.

The Dublin firm, which was established in 1994, opened a 2D animation studio in Manchester last November in a €1m investment.

The expansion of Brown Bag Films coincides with its owners applying to go unlimited, thereby putting its finances beyond public scrutiny. The company has filed documentation with the Companies Office for unlimited status.

Brown Bag Films’ last accounts, for 2013, show that profits jumped by 43% to €1.63m as revenues climbed 6% to €18.35m.

The pilot for The Stinky & Dirty Show, directed by Darragh O’Connell and produced by Gillian Higgins, was broadcast on Amazon Prime in January. On the back of very positive feedback from viewers, the series was given the go-ahead.

The Stinky & Dirty Show is based on the I Stink! book series by Kate and Jim McMullan, and follows the adventures and mishaps faced by best friends and unlikely heroes Stinky the garbage truck and Dirty the backhoe loader.

The Stinky & Dirty Show will premiere on Amazon Prime in the US, Germany, and the UK in 2016.
