Lavin mansion hearing adjourned for fifth time

An application for re-possession, to remove the businesswoman Jackie Lavin from a luxury Italianate mansion, formerly owned by her partner Bill Cullen, in the heart of the Killarney National Park has been adjourned — for the fifth time.

Ms Lavin is claiming ownership, the court was told yesterday.

Receivers for Glencullen Properties Ltd, the company formerly owned by Mr Cullen, have been seeking to remove the celebrity businesswoman from Killegy House, Killarney, in Co Kerry.

The Italianate style house with landscaped gardens and tennis court overlooking the lakes of Killarney, was built by Mr Cullen.

Ms Lavin had been a tenant of the house, the court was told in July 2014 when the matter first arose at the Circuit Civil Court in Tralee.

Receivers had sought her removal in late 2012 and a the dispute went to the Private Residential Tenancies Board (PRTB). In February 2014, the PRTB ordered Ms Lavin to vacate Killegy.

Yesterday the court was told receivers were seeking a order pursuant to Section 124 of the Residential Tenancies Board regarding the tenancy of Killegy House. Ms Lavin had instigated High Court proceedings “asserting ownership” and an adjournment would facilitate both parties.

Judge Thomas E O’Donnell granted the adjournment to a Civil Court later this month.

The Circuit Civil Court in Tralee was previously told Ms Lavin has gone ahead with High Court proceedings claiming she is the “beneficial owner” of Killegy House.
