Aer Lingus shares fell in Dublin trading amid growing political opposition to a takeover bid by IAG, the owner of British Airways.

Aer Lingus ended the day down 2.19% at €2.37, giving the company a market value of €1.26bn.

The company said on Tuesday that an indicative IAG bid of €2.50 a share plus a 5c cash dividend were enough for it to recommend an offer to investors, subject to conditions.
