Kingspan has taken “a quantum leap” in its global expansion plans by acquiring Belgian specialist building materials firm Joris Ide for an estimated €315m.

Speculation surrounding the deal surfaced in the Belgian media last weekend and was followed by Kingspan confirming on Monday that it was in advanced discussions over a deal.

The Co Cavan-based insulation products specialist will pay about €315m for Joris Ide. The company is a pan-European manufacturer and supplier of insulated panels. It will retain its management team and branding.
