The Midwest tourism industry yesterday received a double boost with the announcement of two separate — and overdue — projects in north Clare.

In one case, Clare County Council announced that it is to construct an inner relief road and bridge in the north Clare town of Ennistymon.

The town has long acted as a gateway to Ireland’s second most popular tourist attraction at the Cliffs of Moher, which attracted over 1m visitors last year.
