The figures are stark and are about all you need to know if wondering whether or not pursuing a college or university course is worth the effort and time in the long run: there’s a 90% better chance of getting a job with a college qualification than without.

So taking that one statistic as a starting point, it’s no surprise that the experts within the education sector advise those still in school or those who have left the world of learning to think seriously about going on to third level and, automatically, improve their career prospects.

“It definitely shows you have a better chance of a better quality of life when you have that extra qualification,” as Institute of Guidance Counsellors president Betty McLaughlin puts it.
