Jobs at risk as Ulster Bank to close 14 branches

The move forms part of the bank’s major cost-cutting plan — announced in July of last year — which factored in the closing of 40 branches by 2016 and the cutting of its overall staff numbers from 5,800 to between 4,000 and 4,500 within the same timeframe.
Although the 37 jobs effectively being put at risk via yesterday’s announcement will not face redundancies, they are being “invited to redeploy” by the bank.
