Ladbrokes’ Irish revenues up 1.1%

Ladbrokes saw net revenues at its Irish operations rise by 1.1% in the third quarter when measured against the same period last year, despite Irish punters betting considerably less in its shops.

The British betting and gaming services giant said, as part of its latest quarterly trading update yesterday, that amounts staked over-the-counter at its Irish stores fell by 11.4%. Ladbrokes operates around 300 retail outlets on the island of Ireland; the vast majority being located in the Republic.

“In the Republic of Ireland, we are in the process of responding to challenging conditions, driven by the effect of continued promotional-led competition. Better sporting results and margins delivered an increase in net revenue of 1%,” the company said.
