From October 26, the airline will offer a five-a-day service from Dublin to London City Airport using a mix of Embraer 170 and 190 jets.
It said an early-morning departure time from Dublin will mean customers can do a full day’s business in London as well as facilitating connections on to the airline’s 26 domestic, European and international destinations from the Docklands Airport.
Willie Walsh, chief executive of International Airlines Group, the parent company of British Airways, welcomed the development at a launch event for VIP guests held in Dublin last night.
Mr Walsh said: “I am delighted that British Airways customers will now be able to benefit from the introduction of this new route to London City Airport.
“At British Airways, we understand only too well the importance of the Dublin to London air link and this new route will help further develop and strengthen business and tourism relationships between the two capital cities.
“It complements our existing London Heathrow service and the excellent schedule means customers will have plenty of choice whether flying for business or leisure.”
Dublin Airport managing director Vincent Harrison said: “We’re delighted to see the airline launch a new Dublin-London City service, offering greater choice to the travelling public.
Each way hand baggage only fares to London City Airport start from €39 and can be booked on ba.com or with local travel agents.
