Energia offer could save customers €325 yearly
Energia, which entered the domestic market in January, yesterday released details of its summer dual fuel offer which promises savings of up to 18% for customers.
“Our new summer dual fuel offer allows Irish homes reduce their energy costs by up to 18%. This adds up to a super saving of €325 on the average yearly bill, which could come in handy for their summer holidays or a weekend away,” said Energia head of marketing Geoff Codd.
The new dual fuel offer, which encourages customers to bundle their gas and electricity bills, is open to new customers only and is the cheapest offer on the market.
Based on average consumption for a three bedroom house and applying the new discounts, a household’s total spend on electricity and gas per year would be €1,883, according to an Energia spokesperson.
Competition in the gas and electricity markets has been increasing in recent months with the introduction of Energia to the market in January and the deregulation of Bord Gáis Energy this month.
The newly deregulated body is now free to set its own gas rates without the approval of the Commission of Energy Regulation, as was previously the case.
