Professional job opportunities increase

Employers are hiring more workers than a year ago as the number of professional job opportunities climbed by more than 5% in the last 12 months, new data shows.

Professional job opportunities increase

The Morgan McKinley Irish Employment Monitor registered a 6% increase in the number of professional positions in the market in the first half of this year compared with the same period of 2013. Although June saw a slight decrease of 1% from the previous month in the number of such opportunities, Morgan McKinley chief operations officer, Karen O’Flaherty said this was to be expected and the data represents an upturn in the economy.

“We would typically expect a slowdown in recruitment activity coming into the summer months so the increase, albeit slight, in the number of professional jobs available on the market in June is undoubtedly a positive indicator for the economy and for job seekers,” said Ms O’Flaherty.
