AIB intends to fully repay €20.8bn for bank rescue

AIB chairman David Hodgkinson is confident that the bank will eventually pay back the full €20.8bn of taxpayers money used to rescue the bank.

Speaking to reporters following yesterday’s annual general meeting, Mr Hodgkinson said: “This bank will repay the €20bn to the state, over time.

“That is our intention. It is definitely a realistic prospect.”
