We must go for broke to give the nation hope
Last Friday was an election where the broad outcome had been writ large. There would be little surprise at the result. The main parties would be hammered and independents and Sinn Féin would be in the ascendency.
Now, that it’s all over and the predictions were true save that Labour took a worse hammering than anybody anticipated, and Fianna Fáil better than anticipated given its inglorious past, we still do not really know the implications or where we are headed.
