EMC boss looks forward to taking on expanded role
 In the role, Mr Savage will oversee two key strategic centres in Russia and Egypt, and will jointly manage responsibilities for the centre in Israel.
He will continue to lead EMC’s operations in Ireland, the company said.
“The EMC centres of excellence are key strategic priorities for the company’s global growth, in developing products and providing support services to EMC business units and customers across the globe. I have had the privilege of leading our centres of excellence in Ireland over the past several years and look forward to expanding my role to Russia, Egypt and Israel,” said Mr Savage.
EMC employs over 3,000 people in Ireland, with its main operations based in Cork. It exports to over 140 countries from its Irish operations. Last year, it invested €100m in this country creating a further 200 jobs.
“Bob’s appointment as vice president and managing director, EMC Centre of Excellence, Europe, Middle East and Africa is a key promotion in the growth plans of EMC globally,” said Vic Bhagat, executive vice president and chief information officer at EMC Corporation.
“As a key leader in Ireland for more than 25 years, Bob has been a driver in establishing and growing our leadership position in the Irish market.
