The final link between the State and Anglo Irish Bank has been broken with the announcement that none of the banks assets will transfer to the State.

The sale of assets from IBRC has covered the Government’s €12.9bn bond issued to fund the liquidation of the former Anglo.

Minister for Finance Michael Noonan said the success of the sale means there is no longer any need to place assets in Nama.
