PhoneWatch to create 230 jobs

The home-security firm PhoneWatch is to create 230 jobs in 12 regions across the country as it looks to expand its operations.

PhoneWatch to create 230 jobs

PhoneWatch was last year sold by Eircom for over €100m to Norwegian company Sector Alarm Corporation. It employs 150.

The new jobs will be in engineering, sales, and operational areas of the business. PhoneWatch will expand its footprint nationally, opening offices in Dublin, Cork, and up to 10 other regional centres.

Managing director Eoin Dunne said they are aiming to bring the company closer to its customers by establishing a regional network of offices.

“We have exciting and ambitious plans for growth in the Irish market and this new investment will help us realise that ambition.

“We are establishing a regional office network to bring us even closer to our customers and to enable us to deliver an enhanced and superior service to our customers.

“Our strong regional presence will also be strategically important to us as we introduce innovative new products and services to the Irish market and continue to grow our business here.”

Richard Bruton, the jobs minister, welcomed the news.

“This announcement by PhoneWatch that they will create 230 jobs over the coming years is very welcome,” he said.

“A key part of our Action Plan for Jobs is delivering a regional spread in job-creation, and we have seen significant progress on this in the past year, with jobs now growing in every region of the country.

“Today’s announcement that over 200 jobs will be created in 12 regional centres is a further boost in this,” he added.
