The Irish Banking Federation reported a 16% increase in the volume of mortgages approved but brokers claim that the market remains deeply dysfunctional.

5,200 mortgages issued in Q4

The Irish Banking Federation (IBF) reported more than 5,200 mortgages were issued in the fourth quarter of 2013. The IBF/PwC Mortgage Market Profile reported nearly €900m of mortgage lending with 90% used for house purchase.

The total value of new mortgages drawn down in 2013 was €2.5bn.
