‘Too soon’ for commitment on tax reductions

It is far to soon for the Government to make a commitment on tax cuts in next October’s budget because of the ongoing uncertainty over growth figures, a troika source has said.

At the Ibec CEO conference last week, Taoiseach Enda Kenny said income tax levels are too high and that tax cuts in October’s budget would be a priority for the Government.

Even though the country exited the EU/IMF bailout programme in December, there is still ongoing troika oversight of the economy.
