No bonuses, Noonan tells AIB board

Finance Minister Michael Noonan has told the chairman and board members of AIB ‘no bonuses for staff’ in a face to face meeting.

No bonuses, Noonan tells AIB board

Last month, Mr Noonan firmly ruled out the prospect of bonuses for high-fliers at the bank when stating: “While we’re holding 99pc of AIB, there’s no point in having those discussions with me.”

Mr Noonan outlined the Government’s position after it emerged that AIB chairman, David Hodgkinson held talks with Department of Finance officials last month aimed at the re-introduction of bonuses for top brass at the bailed-out bank. Now, in a written Dáil response to Fianna Fáil finance spokesman, Michael McGrath, Mr Noonan confirmed that he held a meeting with Mr Hodgkinson and other AIB board members earlier this week.
