The main firm owned by former Irish rugby player, Geordan Murphy was sitting on a cash pile of more than €530,000 when the Kildare man announced his retirement from playing professional rugby last year.

Accounts just filed by the full-back’s firm, Geordan Murphy Ltd to Companies House in the UK show that the firm had the cash pile of £438,614 (€532,680) at the end of June last (2013).

The figures show that the company’s accumulated profits increased by £63,417 going from £306,732 to £370,149 in the 12 months.
