Oil discovered in two Kenyan wells

Tullow Oil has said its onshore assets in northern Kenya have the potential to become a significant new hydrocarbon province after making two sizeable additional oil discoveries.

The company has increased its estimate of discovered resources at its Block 10BB basin in the north of Kenya from 360 million barrels of oil ) to 600 million — on the back of new discoveries at the Amosing-1 and Ewoi-1 exploration wells — adding that it believes the basin’s overall potential, which will be assessed via a series of exploration and appraisal wells to be drilled over the next two years, lies in over a billion barrels of oil.
