Irish internet access is lagging

Ireland falls short of its European neighbours when it comes to access to broadband, according to a Eurostat survey — but lobby groups say the actual figures may be much worse.

The European statistics agency found only 67% of Irish households had a broadband connection in the second quarter of 2013, below the EU average of 76%.

However, a spokesman for broadband lobby group Ireland Offline said the actual situation is much worse.
