Markets static ahead of US meeting

The Iseq fell 4.32 points yesterday to close at 4,272.17. Other European markets were relatively flat ahead of an announcement due after close of business by the Federal Reserve about the future of its economic stimulus package.

In the financial sector AIB and Bank of Ireland gained ground, the former adding 0.6c to close at 8.9c while the latter was 0.4c better at 21.7c. Permanent TSB lost 0.2c to 3.8c and FBD advanced 6c to €15.04.

In construction, latest CSO figures show that the volume of output in building and construction was 1.7% higher in the second quarter of 2013, when compared with the preceding quarter. CRH Progressed 9.5c to €17.72, Grafton Group fell 2c to €6.90, while Kingspan gained 56c to €12.13.
