The head of US drugmaker Alkermes, which announced earlier this year that it would be cutting a quarter of its Irish-based workforce, has maintained that the company is committed to this country and will see most of its growth come from here.

The Nasdaq-listed company switched its headquarters to Dublin following its near €1bn takeover of Elan’s Athlone-based drug delivery business EDT two years ago.

In April this year, the company said 100-130 job losses would be made at its Irish operations over the coming two years as it phases out a number of its older product lines.
