Food companies sign €400,000 deal

Food and support services company, Compass Group Ireland, has signed a deal with Hodgins Foods in Mitchelstown, Co Cork, to provide sausages and black pudding products to its units countrywide.

The deal is valued at €400,000 a year for Hodgins Foods, which employs more than 30 people and sources all of its pork from Irish farmers.

Compass Group Ireland employs more than 3,500 people on both sides of the border, operates more than 200 units and serves in excess of 100,000 meals a day.

Fiacra Nagle, its managing director, said the group is absolutely committed to working with Irish suppliers wherever possible.

Mr Nagle said: “Our partnership with Hodgins Foods will ensure that our customers will continue to enjoy outstanding product, chosen for its quality, freshness and superb Irish recipe and heritage.”

Mervin Hodgins, founder and managing director of Hodgins Foods, which is a thriving family-run business, said the company’s owners pride themselves on producing great quality products for its clients.

“We are delighted to be the official supplier of quality sausages and pudding to a company as large as Compass Group Ireland,” said Mr Hodgins.

“It’s great to see a company of this scale supporting local Irish companies such as ourselves and we look forward to working together,” he added.
