EU hosts events to mark international year of family farming
It follows a decision by the UN General Assembly to declare 2014 as the International Year of Family Farming. Led by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation, it has the objective of raising the profile of family farming.
It will do so from the perspective of effectively combating poverty and hunger, providing food security, searching for a rural development based on the respect for environment and biodiversity and improving livelihoods.
