New director named for EMC division

Cloud computing giant EMC has appointed Jason Ward as director for EMC Ireland, Scotland and UK North.

Mr Ward previously served as EMC Ireland country manager, driving EMC’s performance in the Irish market.

In his new role he will be responsible for driving EMC’s cloud, big data and IT strategy to further accelerate the company’s growth.

Gerry Murray has been appointed EMC Ireland country manager.

Prior to his new role, Mr Murray was the public sector manager for EMC Ireland and helped to establish EMC’s strong market position in Ireland, particularly in the health and education sectors.

Bob Savage will remain in his position as vice-president and managing director of the centre of excellence in Ovens, Cork.

Director for EMC Ireland, Scotland and UK North, Jason Ward said that EMC was continuing to transform IT globally.

“Our business model, in Ireland and globally, is at the crossroads of the most transformative trends in global IT — cloud, big data and trusted it.

“Gerry Murray will continue to build on our success in Ireland,” he said.

The company recently announced the creation of 200 highly skilled jobs and the opening of an EMC office in Citygate in Mahon as part of a €100m investment in Ireland by EMC.

EMC employs over 3,000 people in Ireland.
