International travel website includes Killarney hotel in select list’s top 50

International travel website Expedia has ranked The Lake Hotel in Killarney number 50 on its ‘Global Insiders’ Select List’ for 2013.

Only 650 of the 250,000 hotels and resorts listed by Expedia are deemed eligible for Insiders’ Select status, with the list based on the hotels with the best guest satisfaction levels and highest quality staff.

Established in 1820, the Lake Hotel has been owned and operated by well- known Irish hotelier family the Huggards since 1940.

The family recently celebrated 100 years in the hotel industry.

“As an Irish family-run hotel, we continuously strive to provide top-class hospitality in a unique location, on the shoreline of the world-famous Lakes of Killarney. To be placed in the top 50 hotels worldwide, and receive such a prestigious award from our guests’ reviews is truly an honour.

“Top marks to all our hardworking staff,” Lake Hotel managing director Tony Huggard said.

In the past, the Lake Hotel has been awarded various other distinctions such as the AA Customer Care Award, the Optimus Mark of Best Practice and an excellence in marketing certificate.

Expedia’s select list is based on guest reviews of stays within the past six months and an annual minimum number of reviews.

To ensure authenticity, Expedia verifies each guest review by confirming that the reviewer has stayed at the property in the allotted timeframe.
