New funding worth €21m is being made available to boost the number of technology start-ups and help turn innovative ideas into sustainable jobs.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton made the announcement yesterday, saying the money — being provided by Enterprise Ireland’s Commercialisation Fund — will be used to support the commercialisation of research this year.

The financing will accelerate the development and commercialisation of innovative new products and services, and is specifically targeted at increasing the number of new technology-based start-up companies.
