Meade Potato Company awarded title for best agri-business in Ireland
Since this time last year, the company’s workforce has grown from 150 to 200 employees due to increased business. Based in Lobinstown, Navan, Co Meath, Meade anticipates a further 50 people will be employed indirectly to carry out expansion plans and sustainability initiatives.
Meade commercial director Philip Meade Jr said: “Our growth as a company would not have been possible without the hard work of our dedicated team of employees and fellow growers. The weather made it a truly testing past year for farmers, but the skill and tenacity demonstrated in dealing with it has been a credit to Irish agriculture.”
The Ulster Bank judges said that Meade Potato Company stood out as a thriving producer in the agricultural supply chain. They cited the company’s impressive turnover, strong sustainability and family business track record as major factors in their decision.
Meade is currently seeking new growers to join their team, both in Ireland and abroad. Overseas suppliers are especially needed to meet demand for their fresh fruit and salad lines.
