Smurfit Kappa shareholders set for ‘sustained progressive dividends’

Shareholders in paper and packaging giant, Smurfit Kappa Group were told, yesterday, that the company’s strong balance sheet should allow it to continue awarding investors, following a resumption of dividend payments last year.

Addressing the group’s annual general meeting, chairman Liam O’Mahony noted that the group’s strong balance sheet should allow management to “sustain a progressive dividend stream”.

The Dublin-headquartered company restarted paying dividends early last year (for 2011), after temporarily suspending them in 2009 in order to focus on reducing debt levels.
