Dairygold members urged to support co-op’s investment plans

The ICMSA and Macra na Feirme are urging Dairygold members to attend the joint AGM and SGM on Thursday, and to support the co-op’s investment plans.

Dairygold members urged to support co-op’s investment plans

ICMSA president John Comer said Dairygold needs significant investment in processing capacity, and this must involve a direct contribution from members.

“The co-operative ethos is one based on co-operation and when making their decision members need to take account of this,” said Mr Comer.

“The additional processing capacity has to be funded, as the farmers who expand will need processing capacity to process the additional milk into products that will maximise the return for the farmer,” he added.

Outgoing Macra president Alan Jagoe added: “Young farmers are looking to the future, as their parents did before them, and will support a sound investment plan in their own business, Dairygold Co-op.”

* The AGM takes place in the Powder Store on the Mallow site at 10.30am. The SGM will follow at 12.30pm.
