Mr Burns said farmers need these higher prices as they will struggle to cover their exceptionally high feed costs this spring. He said beef consumption figures for both the UK and domestic markets are very positive.
Plus, with the latest EU beef forecast predicting lower production in France and Italy, the beef trade should remain positive.
