IMC identifies extent of gold discovery
The company has further expanded the zone where it believes the gold is located. After finishing additional drilling the company has identified a potential 6.5km-long mineralised gold zone.
Managing director Glenn Millar said these are further encouraging results.
“We are delighted that successive drilling to date has continually reinforced the exploration potential of this licence area, culminating in the outlining of a potential 6.5km long zone of mineralisation.
“IMC is dedicated to delimiting this zone through further exploration.
“IMC’s ambitious exploration programmes are consistently producing extremely positive results, allowing us to continue to expand our activity at an increased pace,” he said.
IMC had previously described the results of its early drilling at a site in Co Wexford near the Co Wicklow boarder, as spectacular.
Since the original discovery, further drilling has identified a potential mineralised zone to the south-western end of the licence, where significant gold mineralisation occurs.
As part of its plan to develop the find IMC has acquired the historic Avoca mine from the Department of Energy and Natural resources.
When it acquired the Avoca license Dr Millar said that is was part of the company’s plan to develop a world-class gold resource.
