Taoiseach confident of promissory note deal

Taoiseach Enda Kenny says he is confident that a deal will be done on the promissory notes before the next €3.1bn payment is due at the end of March.

Speaking at the Government’s fourth progress report on its ‘Action Plan for Jobs’, Mr Kenny said it was very important that Ireland secures a deal on the bank debt.

“It would greatly ease our debt payments and help us exit the EU/IMF programme at the end of this year. We continue these negotiations, which are technical and complex.”
