Markets across the world started the week on a positive note.

World markets in positive mood

Good US economic data figures pushed markets slightly ahead after a weak start. Shares in Dublin mirrored this and closed slightly ahead on 3,554.50, up 1.41 points, after being down on the morning session.

The financials had a quiet day with Bank of Irelandcontinuing its good run, adding 0.4c to 14.4c, whilePermanent TSB and AIB shed 0.1c to 4c and 8c. Insurer FBD Holdings was flat on €10.91.

In construction CRH finished on €15.77, Kingspan ended at €8.75 and Grafton at €4.41.

In other news, Ryanair announced very strong third-quarter results, up 21% year on year, with a 3% rise in passenger numbers. The stock closed up 4.1c to €5.54.
