The Cork company supplies over 600 British stores including Harrods, Selfridges, Budgens, and Asda as well as butchers, farm shops, and independents.
The stores are stocking a range of Clonakilty products including the iconic black pudding, white pudding, and sausages.
British shoppers spend close to £14m (€17.2m) on black pudding every year and the managing director of Clonakilty Black Pudding, Colette Twomey, is keenly aware of the export opportunities: “We are thrilled with our success in 2012, we have worked hard with our suppliers throughout the year to meet their needs and our team thrive on the buzz of excitement we feel every time we see our Clonakilty product on display in stores, safe in the knowledge that this product is making its way onto breakfast tables and restaurant tables across Britain.
“During 2012 we have appointed a full time company representative within the UK and our aim is to continue to grow our market share and we are looking forward to 2013 with great confidence.”
Ms Twomey said the firm, which employs 42 people, has focused on exports in recent years, with products being exported to Spain, Holland, United Arab Emirates, and Hong Kong.
“In 2013 we will continue to look at export opportunities particularly within mainland Europe,” she said.
