Medical devices multinational to create 100 jobs

A total of 100 hi-tech jobs have been created at a multinational medical devices company.

“Ireland’s reputation as a leading location for business and investment in the life sciences sector is further boosted by this announcement of 100 new highly- skilled jobs at Nypro’s Bray facility,” Mr Kenny said.

He said maintaining Ireland as an attractive location for investment was a priority for the Government.

The jobs announcement was supported by IDA Ireland, which is responsible for attracting direct foreign investment to the country.

Jobs Minister Richard Bruton also hailed the new positions, saying the announcement was further evidence of the strong potential for the healthcare sector.

“Healthcare and life sciences is a key sector targeted by the Government for employment growth as part of the Action Plan for Jobs,” Mr Bruton said.

He added that the expansion was also great news for Bray and he was determined to build on it to create further employment.

Nypro, a US-based firm which set up shop in Ireland in 1980, changed direction in 2008 — moving from a focus on the electronic industry to drug delivery and diagnostics.

It has created 160 jobs in the last two years.

The company now develops and manufactures high-growth inhalation and injectable drug delivery devices.
