‘Breakthrough year’ for Greencore

Greencore has beaten market expectations with a strong set of annual results, covering what management has called a breakthrough year for the group.

The convenience food producer yesterday reported a £17m (€21m) increase in pre-tax profits to just under £29m (€36m), for the 12 months to the end of September.

Group operating profits — before exceptional items and acquisition costs — amounted to £70.7m, up by 37.3% on the previous year. After exceptionals, operating profit for the year amounted to £46.5m; up from £24.5m a year earlier.
