Markets ahead after volatile trading

Markets across the eurozone were slightly ahead on a volatile day’s trading yesterday. The Iseq closed down 25.83 points on 3,268.74

Irish financial stocks saw AIB flat on 5.1c, Permanent TSB shedding .03c to finish on 2.2c and Bank of Ireland gaining 0.1c to close on 9.3c. Insurer FBD Holdings also lost some ground following on from Friday’s gains to close on €9.38.

It was a very weak day for the construction sector with all losing ground. Worst hit was Kingspan where despite results broadly in line with commentators’ expectations, a statement from management stated that demand across its market is weakening. Kingspan duly lost .18c to close on €7.70. CRH and Grafton Group followed suit, shedding 8c and 12c to finish on €14.28 and €3.38,
